GAO REPORT ON SAFETY AND SECURITY INCIDENTS IN JOB CORPS

In June, the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a final report on safety and security incidents in Job Corps. This report was requested by Chairwoman Virginia Foxx of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce and its preliminary findings were discussed during the Committee’s hearing on safety and security in the Job Corps program last summer.

In response to this report, the NJCA sent the following letter to Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta: http://www.njcaweb.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/NJCA-Response-to-GAO-Report.pdf. The Friends of Job Corps Caucus is preparing to send a similar letter lauding the fact that Job Corps students are safer in the program than they would otherwise be.
